Man jailed for multiple assaults and driving offences

A man has been jailed for more than two-and-a-half years for multiple assaults and driving offences.

Dean Ode was sentenced to 32 months on Tuesday 19th May at Liverpool Crown Court for a variety of offences.

The 35-year-old, of Beaulieu Avenue in Winsford, had pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

For a separate case, Ode also pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, using threatening or abusive words or behaviour, three counts of assaulting a police officer, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, criminal damage, failing to provide a specimen for analysis, driving without insurance, assault by beating, and driving without a licence.

In July 2021, Ode had punched a female victim to the face during an argument. This caused a fracture to her cheekbone, and she needed to undergo surgery as a result.

It was also reported that Ode had assaulted a child in January 2025, by slapping them to the back of the head and pushing them.

During a separate case, on 17th December 2025, a member of the public spotted a vehicle being driven erratically in Chelford Road, Henbury, heading towards Macclesfield.

The car came to a stop after crashing into a wall and the member of the public, a man, went to check on the driver. The driver attempted to drive away but was stopped by the man who removed the keys from the ignition.

The driver – identified as Ode – became aggressive towards the man and punched him to the head and attempted to kick him.

An ambulance passing by stopped to help and a paramedic tried to restrain Ode. Ode then punched the paramedic, causing facial injuries.

An off-duty paramedic also tried to intervene but was assaulted when Ode grabbed hold of her arm.

During one of the assaults, a victim’s glasses were damaged.

Police arrived on scene and Ode was swiftly arrested and taken to hospital to be checked over following the collision. He slapped and pushed one officer and attempted to headbutt another officer. He also spat at both of them.

While in hospital, Ode refused to provide a sample of blood to be taken.

The registered keeper of the vehicle which Ode had been driving was identified and she confirmed that Ode had taken her vehicle without consent.

On top of his custodial sentence, Ode is subject to restraining orders to protect the woman and child he assaulted in July 2021 and January 2025.

Detective Constable Connor McGregor said:

“Ode is clearly a volatile individual, assaulting not only a woman and a child, but also a passing member of the public who was trying to help him, paramedics, and police officers.

“No-one should be subjected to this kind of behaviour, and I hope the two victims in the first case are able to get some closure, knowing he is behind bars for his crimes.

“This case also shows how seriously we take assaults on emergency workers, who do not deserve to be hit, kicked and spat at, just for doing their jobs and protecting the public.

“I welcome the custodial sentence handed to him for this catalogue of offences.”
